STSM Testimonial: Basque Language Pilot Data Collection for MultiplEye

Markéta Ceháková is a fourth-year PhD student in Czech language at Charles University in Prague, specializing in psycholinguistics. Her research focuses on sentence processing and language comprehension.
During her research stay at the Basque Center on Cognition, Brain and Language (06/05/2025-02/06/2025), she mainly worked on the implementation of the MultiplEye experiment at the BCBL lab.

Recently, I had a chance to visit the Basque Center on Congition, Brain, and Language and it was a wonderful, enriching experience. Thanks to my amazing host, Ana Bautista, I had a chance to meet wonderful researchers, listen to inspiring talks, and even discuss opportunities for potential further collaborations, while also contributing to such an amazing project as the MultiplEYE corpus.
We discussed what the experiment implementation should look like, prepared the materials and made sure the lab was ready for running the study in accordance with their policies. I received a very warm welcome from everyone in the Speech & Bilingualism group at the BCBL and I’m very grateful for having the opportunity to participate in their discussions and also to gain invaluable insights on my own work from them. It was truly an inspiring and reassuring experience.

Moreover, being surrounded by the green mountains and ocean waves in the beautiful San Sebastián made my time at the BCBL even better.

Thank you, COST Action and MultiplEYE, for enabling this opportunity. It was truly rewarding both on the professional and personal level!
