Machine Learning Hackathon for the MultiplEYE

April 14-15, 2025 in Tirana, Albania
University of New York Tirana (Main Campus)

The Machine Learning Hackathon for the MultiplEYE is organized by the leader of the 4th Working Group Jamal Nasir. During the Hackathon teams will have the opportunity to enhance support for more eye trackers (e.g. Tobii), work on upgrading the PyMovement library, or form their own teams to develop innovative ideas related to NLP applications leveraging eye-tracking data. The hackathon will primarily focus on practical, hands-on sessions, allowing participants to dive deep into the technical aspects of eye-tracking. Master’s students are also welcome to apply for this exciting opportunity.

The detailed agenda will be shared in the coming days. In the meantime, we would like to highlight the main objectives of our 2-day hackathon. You can find the preliminary agenda here.

The necessary prerequisite to attend the hackathon is:
– the participants can code in Python

Please note that here are 20 eligible places, majority of which will be covered by the COST. Note also that priority will be given to members who will collect the data or/and conduct ML experiments for MultiplEYE, if they fulfill the criteria outlined above.

If you are interested in attending, please send the application form via e-mail to multipleye.2022@gmail.com (title: HT application – full name). The application form includes some information about you and a brief letter of motivation. In the application you should explain why you wish to attend the hackathon, what you wish to learn, how it will benefit your research and career, and how you plan to contribute to the Action objectives with the new sets of skills and knowledge.

The selection will be based on the letter of motivation, taking into account geographic and gender balance, and inclusiveness of Early Career Investigators. Priority will be given to the applications coming from the ITC. The list of participants selected for reimbursement will be announced after the application deadline.

Applications must be submitted by 18th of March, 2025.

Formal invitations will be sent out to the selected participants via the e-COST platform. Therefore, it is obligatory that you have an e-COST profile!

According to the COST rules, all participants that are eligible for reimbursement are expected to initially pay the expenses themselves and provide evidence of expenses incurred via the e-COST platform. Participants will be reimbursed after the hackathon. Please read the latest version of the Travel Reimbursement Rules carefully for more details on reimbursement upon the completion of the event.
