STSM testimonial – Eye-tracking data collection on Greek participants

Antonia Boznou is a research assistant and PhD student at the Lab of Psycholinguistics & Neurolinguistics at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She is working on the eye-movements of typical and atypical populations (ASD, Broca aphasia) on self-paced reading. Antonia visited the team at the POLIN lab, Department of Speech and Language Pathology, University of Zagreb, Croatia from 5/10/2024 to 13/10/2024.

My Short Term Scientific Mission (STSM) at the University of Zagreb was an invaluable opportunity for professional growth. Working alongside Dr. Pavlinušić Vilus and the team at the POLIN lab, I gained essential skills in eye-tracking and data collection, which I will apply in my research with Greek-speaking participants, both typical and atypical. This hands-on experience has refined my understanding of psycholinguistic research and strengthened my ability to conduct high-quality experiments.

Beyond the technical expertise, the STSM allowed me to expand my academic network, collaborating with leading experts like Prof. Palmović and the local research team. The insights gained not only enriched my PhD project but also positioned me to contribute effectively to the Cost Action’s objectives, ensuring accurate and validated data collection protocols for future studies.

My time in Zagreb was both professionally rewarding and personally enriching, and I look forward to carrying these experiences into my ongoing research.
